St. Charles Streetcar Suspended Service June 1 – August 31, 2015

Note to tourists visiting New Orleans this summer. The Regional Transit Authority is suspending full service on the St. Charles streetcar line, from June 1st through August 31st. The Army Corps of Engineers will be ripping up streetcar tracks at three major intersections along St. Charles Avenue (Jefferson, Napoleon and Louisiana avenues) to continue installing major federal drainage canals. Streetcar service will be suspended between Jefferson and Louisiana avenues for 90 days. The RTA will run bus shuttles to fill the gap. If you plan on traveling uptown via the streetcar please take into account possible extra travel time and possible delays.

Please allow extra time for possible delays if you plan on taking the St. Charles streetcar uptown to take an SOC tour at Lafayette Cemetery #1, or if you plan on taking the Saint Charles streetcar from uptown to the St. Louis Cemeteries downtown.
