A Study in Necrogeography: North & South Louisiana Cemeteries
Tuesday, October 18 at 6:00pm
Covington Branch of the St. Tammany Parish Library
310 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana

Southeastern Louisiana University instructor (and friend of Save Our Cemeteries) Gerald McNeill will discuss the similarities and differences of north and south Louisiana cemeteries during this 2-hour lecture.

He’ll use the study of necrogeography, or “the geography of the dead,” which includes cultural and historic geographical studies of burial practices. The subject includes the settlement of Louisiana, the religious differences and the material cultural elements left on the cemetery landscape, and care of the cemetery landscape by the living.

The lecture is free, however registration is recommended. Please call 985-893-6280 to RSVP.
