Save Our Cemeteries does not own or operate any of the cemeteries in New Orleans. It’s a bit of a complicated issue. Restoration and preservation work in cemeteries frequently poses problems dealing with such things as tomb ownership and other legal issues. We are constantly seeking funding and grants to perform tomb restorations, it’s a huge job to do. We are actively trying to save every tomb that we can. SOC has completed millions of dollars worth of capital improvements in the cemeteries over the years.

We do not take “reservations” per se (holding a spot on a tour without prior payment). A New Orleans City Ordinance limits tours to a maximum of 28 people. Due to this fact, we cannot just “hold” a place for people who may or may not show up. As a result, you must book a tour. This can be done three ways: 1.) online through our website using a credit card. 2.) by phone using a credit card. 3.) you can just walk-up before the tour starts with payment of cash only. With the walk-up option you will be taking a chance that the tour has already reached it’s maximum of 28 persons. Bookings by website or phone must be made at least 2 hours before the tour starts.

Yes, we give cemetery tours 7 days a week, all year long. We do not give tours on the following holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Mardi Gras and Easter Sunday.

We don’t currently offer tour discounts for students, military, seniors, AAA or other groups. We do occasionally offer promotional coupon codes online and through advertisements. SOC tours for children under 12 years old are free.

When you purchase tickets online you will receive an email confirmation which you can printout. It is not necessary to have a paper copy to show your tour-guide to take the tour. Our tour-guides will have a list of people booked for their tour, so your name (or whomever booked your tour) will be listed on their manifest along with the number of people booked in your group.

You can buy a ticket from the tour-guide before the tour starts, it is cash only. But since there is limited room on our tours (the tour size is set by a city ordinance) you will take the chance that the tour has already been booked to capacity. Tours can fill up quickly. It is highly recommended that you book your tour online in advance to guarantee you a spot on our tours.

To reschedule your tour booking, please click on the link provided in your confirmation email.

If Save Our Cemeteries cancels a tour SOC will provide a full refund or offer the customer the opportunity to reschedule for another day/time. If you need to cancel your tour for any reason, you can call 504-525-3377 or email soc@saveourcemeteries.org.
