Membership Information

Founded in 1974, Save Our Cemeteries, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, protecting and promoting the historic cemeteries of New Orleans. Activities of the organization include cemetery cleanups, grounds maintenance, cemetery security, community outreach, educational programs and tomb restoration. Proceeds from cemetery tours conducted by volunteer licensed tour guides and memberships in Save Our Cemeteries are dedicated to supporting these projects and more.

Benefits
All members receive a year subscription to our newsletter, the SOCGram. You will also receive a subscription to Louisiana Life Magazine, free lecture admittance, invitations to special events and cemetery tour tickets. Supporters who donate $500 and higher receive complimentary tickets to the annual fund raiser and a listing in The SOCGram.

Education
Educational programs include a lecture series; Cemeteryscape - a juried photography exhibit for amateur and professional photographers; a spring art and essay contest for children; September through May school cemetery tours and year-round cemetery tours of St. Louis No. I and Lafayette No. I.

Restoration
SOC restoration efforts aim to provide information on proper techniques for tomb restorations to tomb owners and cemetery operators, using information based on the continued evaluation of several pilot studies conducted by SOC and the expertise of the conservators and preservationists.
