St.
Louis I and II Tombstone Collection: In the
1980s, The Historic New Orleans Collection and Save Our Cemeteries
joined forces to collect the hundreds of fragmented tombstones
scattered throughout St. Louis I and II Cemeteries. After extensive
research to return as many pieces as possible to the correct tombs, the
remainder of the tombstone were placed in storage. What
follows is a database of inscriptions collected from these tablets that
were unable to be returned to their tombs. If you find an
ancestor here, contact Save Our Cemeteries at 504-525-3377 so the
tombstone can be placed in your care. Many thanks to The
Historic New Orleans Collection for their role in saving and
documenting these important pieces of New Orleans history.
